AdHoc Presents began in 2012 as a magazine dedicated to bringing attention to underground musicians and overlooked communities. Today, the Brooklyn, NY-based company has expanded to new markets (Raleigh, NC and Detroit, MI) and added event promotion to their repertoire — producing hundreds of events annually across the 3 cities. We spoke with Co-Founder Ric Leichtung and Marketing Manager Morgan Schaffner to learn how AdHoc turned a passion for documenting the ever-changing shape of the music scene into a successful, growing business.

Moving in the Spirit has spent the last 30 years developing thousands of students through the power of dance. But their humble, scrappy studio proved to be much smaller than their aspirations. They needed a way to explore their potential.

Jopwell is the leading career advancement platform for Black, Latinx, and Native American students and professionals. They help companies connect with and recruit underrepresented candidates for jobs and internships. Since launching in 2015, Jopwell has attracted tens of thousands of candidates to their platform, raised more than $12M in funding, and established partnerships with more than 250 of the world’s leading companies across a wide range of industries, including tech, finance, healthcare, and more. We spoke with Tani Brown, Chief of Staff at Jopwell, to learn about the origins of the business and what Jopwell means to her.

The Center for Civic Innovation opened in 2014 as an incubator for new approaches to addressing Atlanta’s systemic challenges around inequality. Within 2 years they were ready to invest in a new generation of local leaders with ideas that improve social outcomes for their community..
